Deakin wanted to stand out from the pack of Australian universities as the true leader in sustainability research, education and innovation.
Communication about environmental sustainability often utilises guilt and fear of our future to incite action. You’ve no doubt seen, heard or read about the dystopian world ahead of us. The world on fire and complete societal collapse. While this approach might work in-the-moment, it is ineffective in the long-term.
Rather than show people what they stand to lose, the film aims to inspire hope for the future by capturing Deakin’s belief that sustainability is something worth fighting for.

There's nowhere to hide in a one-shot edit. Every tiny detail needs to be crafted to perfection and then crafted some more. Directed by Colin Renshaw and his team of VFX wizards at ALT.vfx, more than 1700 hours of special effects work was required to bring the polar bear to life.
